With City Hall located in the area and downtown just a few blocks away, Main & Fraser is at the very heart of life in Vancouver. The area has changed with the construction of the new Canada Line Rapid Transit Line and the addition of major housing and retail sites at the south end of the Cambie Street Bridge.

 

At the same time, the area has a real community feel offering numerous neighbourhood restaurants, amenities and entertainment outlets. Its proximity to Vancouver General Hospital also makes it a hub for health-care services and practitioners.

 

Schools and Recreation

There are many school education options in the Main and Fraser areas of Vancouver. Elementary schools include Brock Elementary, Livingstone Elementary, Nightingale Elementary, Mount Pleasant Elementary and Sir Alexander Mackenzie Elementary. Secondary schools in the area include Sir Charles Tupper Secondary and John Oliver Secondary.

 

Main & Fraser offers its residents fantastic recreation facilities located at Hillcrest Centre. This facility was the location of the former curling venue for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games. Hillcrest Centre offers many family recreational programs, an aquatic centre, fitness centre, ice arena and gymnasium. It's also home to the Terry Salman Library and the Vancouver Curling Club.

 

Public Transportation

The Main & Fraser district is centrally located in Vancouver and provides a hub of transportation routes. Public transit options include three rapid transit lines nearby (Millenium Line, Expo Line and the Canada Line) as well as several major bus routes offering quick access to downtown and most areas of Vancouver.
